In the land of text messages and IMs, there’s nothing quite like receiving a beautiful letter in the mail from someone dear. With this in mind, engaged couples are paying more attention to this important detail and using elaborate handcrafted stationery suites to set the tone for their wedding.
Forget formulaic, stationers are stepping up their game and creating pieces of mail that double as art. From beautiful pop-up invitations to 3-D save-the-dates, nothing is off limits these days. Pulling inspiration from everything including fashion and movies, suites are featuring high-octane colors, graphic prints, Gatsby-inspired art deco motifs, and rich metallic inks.

For those of you who believe that wedding season is reserved for warmer weather, we dare you to take one look at our mailbox (as in the physical one that holds letters, not our email!). We’re swimming in save-the-dates and up to our necks in invites — and most of ‘em are taking place before Memorial Day weekend. Since SoCal gals are so accustomed to the dress-sandals-clutch combo, we realize that these cooler temps can have you looking at your wardrobe and thinking, “uh oh”
Back by popular demand, we’re here to help switch it up with a few lovely layers that are practical (and entirely appropriate) for five different L.A. wedding venues. A sleek leather jacket gives a party frock more polish, and that scarf will come in handy once the sun starts to set in Ojai. Just remember: You’re supposed to get goose bumps when the bride walks down the aisle — not from the brisk winds, so plan according!

Guys, Anne Hathaway got married! In Big Sur! And, it was ah-maaaaazing! But all that goodness does not come cheap, no ma’am. In case you were worried about Anne and new husband Adam Shulman’s joint bank account, never fear: The couple is well off enough to spend a cool $ 1 million on the ceremony — and a full $ 100,000 of that went toward flowers, naturally.
Only 180 guests were in attendance, making the cost a shocking $ 5,555 per head. For a wedding where the supposed theme is rustic (sub category: pink), that seems a little extreme. But as anyone (cough cough, us) who’s lusted after a distressed driftwood antique-effect cabinet and matching plush, pre-worn leather chair knows, rustic is just about the fanciest adjective out there nowadays.
That’s okay, Anne — you’re an amazing actress. You’ve earned every penny, so you have the right to go crazy every once in a while. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to order a rustic $ 15 salad for which, upon delivery, we will give a 150% tip in traditional rustic fashion. (Celebuzz)
Well, we told you we’d keep you posted, didn’t we? As promised, Anne Hathaway got married this weekend and we’ve scored a pic of her ravishing Valentino gown. Of course, no dress worthy of a fairytale Big Sur wedding is complete without a headpiece. If Anne was worried about missing her long hair on the big day, well, that veil and headband combo more than made up for it.
The star chopped off all her hair for the Les Misérables movie, but that super-short pixie cut is a far cry from Fantine’s desperation in real life. A lot of women probably imagine long flowing locks pinned into a meticulously braided updo (not that there’s anything wrong with that) underneath a sheer veil, but Anne just proved that short hair on your wedding day can be just as beautiful. Congrats!
When both people live, work, and play in the city, it’s hard to imagine a world outside of concrete, take-out orders, and the low hum of traffic and sirens. But for art director Roanne Adams of RoAndCo, when it came time to plan a wedding, she wanted to look outside of Manhattan.
For two city mice, a wedding in the country was the perfect respite. Armed with their (very crafty) friends, good eats, and a beautiful Vena Cava dress, Roanne and Johnny Wahba tied the knot outside a barn in upstate New York. Check out the beautiful photos from their big day, and try not to gawk at how stunning Ro looked.
